His highest goal is to maintain peace of mind.

He does this by avoiding things he will regret; or by trying his best to not regret his mistakes.

He believes in:

Forgiveness.

Avoiding nostalgia as much as possible.

(Nostalgia is the unproductive obsession with “how great stuff was in the past.”

Being happy for people and being good to them. He believes kindness is its own reward.

Living as much as possible in a state of observation – and not becoming attached to outcomes.

Not setting goals; instead, he just decides what is important and do it, and the results take care of themselves.

Discipline, which he defines as “doing the right thing at the right time.”

All freedom is the result of discipline, which seems paradoxical at first.
